KOHAT/MANSEHRA: The local administration has announced suspension of gas to CNG stations from 4.30 pm to 8.30 am in a notification issued here the other day.

The chairman of all Southern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa CNG stations association, Haji Sajid, when contacted, said that no reason had been assigned as usual in the Thall Block which produces access gas as consumed.

The Sui Northern Gas Pipelines (SNGPL) was already rationing the gas to domestic consumers who were supplied for only two hours in the morning, noon and evening.

He said that the Nashpa gas plant, partly situated in Kohat and Karak, was producing 410 million cubic feet of gas daily out of which negligible amount was being supplied to the production region. He said that he had filed a petition in the Peshawar High Court which in its verdict had said that the first right over natural resources was of the production zone.

Meanwhile, Sui Northern Gas Pipelines has notified the closure of compressed natural gas (CNG) stations throughout the night for a week across Hazara division.

“We have to suspend gas supply from 4:30 pm to 8:30 am following a notification issued by SNGPL,” Sheikh Ghafoor, an employee of a local CNG station, told reporters.

The CNG stations in Mansehra and the rest of the Hazara division were reopened at 8:30 in the morning after the suspension of gas supply to vehicles throughout the night.
