Book on Mian Iftikhar’s political struggle launched

PESHAWAR: Literati, research scholars, political workers and rights activists gathered here on Saturday at Bacha Khan Markaz to celebrate the launching ceremony of a book in Pashto on Mian Iftikhar Hussain’s eventful political journey spanned over 240 pages, unfolding hidden shades of a staunch nationalist leader. The event was arranged under umbrella of Bacha Khan Trust.

Speakers sought Nobel Prize for Mian Iftikhar Hussain owing to his relentless struggle and sacrifices for the cause of peace, as he has carried forward Bacha Khan’s legacy of non-violence.

Authored by Akbar Hoti advocate, the book titled ‘Da Amn Mubariz’ (a combatant of peace) showcased the thorny political upheavals of Mian Iftikhar Hussain whose entire life served as a metaphor of commitment, strong conviction and firm determination.

Shedding light on different aspects of the book, speakers said the author had done justice to Mian Iftikhar Hussain as every single chapter had encamped minute details related to the fine description of his life.

Akbar Hoti, author of the book, said it took him a year and half to complete it saying the political journey of Mr Hussain had several layers including his social contribution and mentorship of youth.

Dr Khadim Hussain stated the book was not only a narration of Mian Iftikhar Hussain’ life story but also a deep peep into the political, cultural and social phenomena of the region.

Popular film star Ajab Gul on the occasion said the book provided a beautiful script for a full-fledged documentary on the struggle and fight of Mian Iftikhar Hussain’s life.

Prof. Samiuddin Arman highlighted that the sacrifices and commitment of Mian Iftikhar Hussain towards peace could be compared to those of Nobel Peace Prize laureates, and the Nobel jury would find his contributions to peace surpassing those of many others.

Sajid Khan Batoor, co-author of the book, said he would render it into English for global readers so that they could know about the selfless services of our heroes.

Afsar Khan noted social influencer moderated the launching ceremony in a befitting manner.

Shah Hussain, general secretary ANP, Rahmat Shah Sail, Prof Abaseen Yousafzai Noorul Bashar Naveed and Noorul Amin Yousafzai also spoke at the event.
