Watching a battle between good and evil can be very satisfying, so why not create a battle of your own with your LEGO superheroes supervillains?
LEGO Batman vs. The Joker is one such book that not only comes with two LEGO minifigures, Batman and the Joker, but also gives you an insight into their clan like never before.
Written by Julia March and featuring all the good and bad guys and girls from DC’s Batman universe, this book is nothing short of brilliant. Divided into four chapters: Vehicles, Gotham City, Wider World and Loyal Friends. The book pits your favourite superheroes against their most feared supervillains in a way that lets everyone face off against someone else. If Superman vs Bizarro seems clichéd or the Flash vs Captain Cold feels repetitive, then go for Batman vs Brother Eye or Robin vs Lex Luthor. You will not be disappointed.
What makes this book even more interesting are the illustrations, favourite quotes and factoid boxes featuring these super beings. Not only are the heroes’ costumes and accessories brought to the fore, but the wickedness of the villains’ costumes is also detailed.
In the Vehicles chapter, every vehicle in the LEGO DC universe is discussed; in the chapter titled Gotham City, characters from Batman’s universe battle their demons; Wider World pits “out of this world” characters against each other; while Loyal Friends focuses on battles between sidekicks (mainly from the heroes’ side) like Alfred vs Catwoman, Krypto vs Lobo, and even Gordon vs Henchman, literally.
You might have just two figures in hand, but leave the rest to your imagination.
Think of Batman and the Joker in your hand as the leaders of the pack and study the fight plan provided in these pages. In no time, you will find out who the ultimate champion will be. If the book tells you that Killer Moth’s flyer looks like a big bug, or that Lex Luthor’s helicopter is loaded with Kryptonite shooters, it also informs you that Batman’s mech is packed with weapons and that the Flash’s car doesn’t have a speed limit.
At the end of the book, a page is dedicated to each team that battled it out on these pages. It all depends on how well you know the characters you choose for the fight, because that alone will determine whether the adventure ends with a cry of “Justice Prevails” or a shout of “Super-Villains Reunite.”
