BAHAWALPUR: As many as 31 intending Umrah pilgrims from the Yazman area alleged that a travel agent defrauded them of Rs5.5 million and no action has been taken on their complaint regarding the alleged fraud.

Speaking to media persons at the Bahawalpur Press Club on Thursday, they said a travel agent named Khursheed of Fauji Basti, Bahawalpur took the money from them and gave them travel documents for Umrah.

They said the agent told them to go to Karachi airport on a fixed date to board their flight. However, they claimed when they reached the airport, officials declared their documents fake and they had to return.

Now, they alleged that neither Khursheed was available nor their money was being returned.

They said they had approached the Bahawalpur FIA office and registered a complaint, but so far no action was taken against the travel agent.

They appealed to the FIA high-ups and the Punjab chief minister to take action against the said travel agent.

The affectees also held a demonstration against the travel agent outside the press club.

ARRESTED: The Seetal Mari police in Multan claimed to have arrested a boy on Thursday in the Chah Jagoowala area for allegedly sexually harassing a nine-year-old girl.

Complainant claimed that his daughter A (9) went to purchase milk from a nearby shop, where ‘J’ allegedly began sexually harassing her. He said that his daughter returned home and informed him of the incident.

The police registered a case and arrested the accused.
