Traffic plan devised for Milad processions in Rawalpindi
RAWALPINDI:The city traffic police have devised a traffic diversion strategy and deployed over 455 traffic police officers to facilitate the public on the occasion of Eid-i-Miladun Nabi.
A traffic police spokesperson said that additional police personnel will be deployed to keep the traffic flow on alternative routes.
The spokesman said that more than 455 traffic police officers and personnel, including seven circle in-charges and 83 senior traffic wardens will be deployed on Eid Miladun Nabi (PBUH).
Two main processions will be taken out in Rawalpindi--one from Jamia Masjid Hanafia, which will pass through various routes of the city such as Pul Shah Nazar, Bani Chowk, Murree Road, Committee Chowk, Liaquat Road, and Fawwara Chowk.
On this occasion, traffic will be temporarily closed by installing phased diversions from the procession routes.
As part of the traffic plan, during the procession hours, traffic going from Rawalpindi to Islamabad will be diverted from Jang Building U-turn to Kachehri Chowk, while traffic going from Liaquat Bagh to Fawwara Chowk will be diverted from DAV College to Gawalmandi.
The second procession will be taken out from 22 Number Chungi, which will go through Tench Road, Dhok Syedan Chowk, Kalma Chowk, 22 Number Chowk, Adara Road, State Life Building Turn, MH Chowk, Mahfuz Chowk, Mansehra Adda, Thana Cantt, Nishtar Street, Adamji Road, Matho Khan Complex, Railway Road Military Account, Kamran Market and GTS Chowk (Old Waran Adda).
During the procession, traffic coming from Kalma Chowk to 22 Number Chowk will be diverted.
Traffic going to Harley Street will be diverted, while traffic going to Khattak Chowk, CMH and Tench will be diverted to Harley Street. Traffic coming from Peshawar Road will be diverted from Qasim Market to Sher Khan Road.
Traffic going from Kutchery Chowk to Peshawar Road will be diverted from TM Chowk to Murree Road, the spokesman said.
On this occasion, Chief Traffic Officer Rawalpindi Farhan Aslam said that the entry of tractor trolleys, trailers and trucks, etc., in the procession will be completely prohibited, there will be a complete ban on heavy traffic entering the city and no parking will be allowed within a 300-yard area.
Citizens are also requested to avoid unnecessary travel in the city on the occasion of Eid Milad-un-Nabi (PBUH) and in case of any problem, contact the traffic police helpline 051.9274843.

Only single lane parking will be allowed outside schools and colleges, and strict action should be taken against wrong parking, one-way and double-lane parking.
He further said that negligence in keeping traffic flowing during school and college hours will not be tolerated at all.
On this occasion, he also appealed to the school and college administration to keep clear the pick and drop lanes outside their schools and colleges so that it becomes easier for parents.
Let us play our positive role together to ensure safe and unhindered traffic flow on the highways and prove ourselves as civilized citizens by following traffic rules, the CTO said.
