Police put on high alert

LAHORE: The Punjab police have been put on high alert amid serious threat of massive flooding in different areas of the province.

Punjab Inspector General of Police (IGP) Dr Usman Anwar said that the police are on high alert due to the heavy rainfall and the possibility of flooding in Lahore and various other areas of the province.

He directed police teams to actively take part in rescue operations during heavy rains and floods.

The IGP instructed police personnel to play an active role in the ongoing efforts to relocate people and their livestock from areas near rivers and streams to safer locations.

He said the police are providing full assistance to relevant departments to ensure the timely evacuation of residents in anticipation of floods.

He ordered the police to remain vigilant at all times in the districts, including Kasur, Okara, Pakpattan, Vehari, Bahawalnagar, Lodhran, Muzaffargarh, Multan and other areas.

The police officers and personnel must respond immediately to any emergency situation, he added.
