Brothers murder sister for ‘honour’

TOBA TEK SINGH: Four brothers allegedly murdered their sister for honour in Chak 613-GB, Tandlianwala on Tuesday.

Their mother, Nawab Bibi, in her complaint to the police said that her daughter Saman Shahzadi had eloped two weeks ago with a man of the locality and a panchayat (village jury) had arranged her return.

On the night of the incident, the mother claimed that her daughter was asleep when her four sons -- Raj Wali, Ishaq, Nasir and Javed -- overpowered her. She alleged that they forced her to drink poison after torturing her. She died due to the poisoning, she added.

The Tandlianwala Saddar police shifted the body to the Tandlianwala THQ hospital for autopsy and registered an FIR against the brothers.

Police claimed to have arrested accused Raj Wali and raids were being conducted to arrest the remaining accused.

RAPE: A private school’s principal has been booked on Tuesday by the Kabirwlala City police in Khanewal for raping a grade-3 student.

Complainant claimed in his FIR that the accused took his nine-year old orphan nephew to his residence located on the upper storey of the school and forcibly raped him. He claimed the accused also threatened to kill him if he told anyone about the incident.

SUICIDE: A man committed suicide under a train at Gojra on Tuesday.

Rescue 1122 and police claimed deceased Muhammad Rafiq (54) of Chak 156-GB jumped before the incoming Shalimar Express near Kabootranwala graveyard on Dijkot Road and died instantly.

His relatives claimed that he was suffering from mental health issue for the past few months.

Meanwhile, a farmer allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself from a tree in Mouza Sheikh Burhan, Kamalia on Tuesday. Police said deceased Rafiq Enayat (45) was facing financial difficulties.

Similarly in Faisalabad, a young man identified as Waqar Ali ended his life by jumping before a train in Chak Jhumra near Chak 191 RB. Reports said he was mentally challenged.

ELECTROCUTED: A farmer died of electrocution in Mianchannu, Khanewal on Tuesday.

Reports said deceased Muhammad Akram (40) of Chak 78/15-L was cutting fodder on an electric machine when his hand touched a live electric wire. As a result, he received a heavy electric shock and died instantly.

Also in Chak 46/15-L of Mianchannu, another man was electrocuted when he was repairing a wire near the electricity meter. He was identified as Ghulam Nabi (30).

PROCLAIMED OFFENDER: Faisalabad Anti-Terrorism Court Judge Javed Iqbal Sheikh on Tuesday declared PTI’s leader and MNA Sheikh Waqqas Akram as proclaimed offender in an under trial case against him.

He was booked on May 9, 2023, for taking out a protest rally in Jhang following the arrest of PTI founder Imran Khan and delivered an anti-state speech at the rally. Despite several summons, Mr Akram has not appeared before the court.
