Maria B celebrates Pakistan’s unsung heroes this Independence Day with ‘Aam Log, Khaas Kahaniyan’

This Independence Day Maria B, one of Pakistan’s leading fashion brands, steps beyond the runway to honour the extraordinary spirit of ordinary people through its heartfelt campaign ‘Aam Log, Khaas Kahaniyan’.

The initiative invited people from across Pakistan to share real-life stories of unsung heroes in their communities – individuals whose quiet courage and selflessness often go unnoticed. From the many entries received, four inspiring stories were shortlisted, each reflecting resilience, compassion and service to society.

To bring these stories to life, the brand collaborated with renowned influencers including Maryam Raja, Mohammad Wasif (Artbywasif), Huzaifa Nizam (Huztory) and Umar Khan (Ukhano), who documented and shared these remarkable journeys, giving a voice to the unheard. In addition to paying homage to these silent champions and supporting them in expanding their missions, Maria B has pledged a fund of more than two million rupees for their causes.

The initiative highlights real-life heroes who are quietly transforming lives and landscapes across Pakistan:

Reviving Karachi’s coastline – Almas Kasmani, an environmentalist, is on a mission to plant over 10 million mangroves which will serve as nature’s barrier against climate catastrophes and disasters.

Guardians of the wilderness – The Wildlife Watchers of Chitral Gol National Park safeguard endangered species such as the majestic Markhor, preserving Pakistan’s biodiversity while supporting local communities.

Championing the unrecognised talent – Rehan Hameed, pioneer of Muay Thai in Pakistan, trains underprivileged children once engaged in labour and turns them into gold medal-winning athletes.

Fighting for children with rare diseases – Mrs Saa’dat, a devoted philanthropist, provides holistic support to families of children with rare diseases, offering them medical care, financial resources and hope.

“These are the real tales of resilience, kindness, compassion and courage that symbolise the essence of Pakistan,” said Maria Butt, the co-founder of the fashion brand. “Through Aam Log, Khaas Kahaniyan we want to remind the nation that true beauty lies in the lives we touch and the changes we inspire.”
