ISLAMABAD: The Government today [Aug 22] assured the Senate that every possible step would be taken to develop tourist resorts all over the country... . Speaking on a resolution calling for development [of] tourist resorts on Kirthar, Pabb and [Suleman] Mountains and on the Bank of the Indus River, Minister of State for Tourism, Malik Mohammad Jafar said the Government would do whatever it could in this regard.
He said the people’s Government was the first to realise the importance of tourism as was [evidenced] by the creation of a separate Ministry… . ...Senator Afzal Khan Khoso said the tourist resorts of Murree and Nathiagali as well as Ziarat were far away from Sind and stressed the need for developing some hill stations within that province… . Senator Sheikh Umar stressed the need for developing tourism in Mekran... . Senator Sardar Mohammad Aslam said there were many tourist resorts in NWFP where better ... facilities were needed.
