‘A cup of care’: How LIPTON is brewing change in Pakistan
For more than 70 years LIPTON Yellow Label has been part of daily life in Pakistan. From breakfast tables to evening conversations it has been a trusted name. But LIPTON’s connection with Pakistan goes beyond tea. It is about shared roots, real impact and a lasting commitment to the people of this country.
In Khanewal, LIPTON built one of the world’s largest tea factories, not just as a business investment but as a commitment to the community. The factory runs on 66 per cent renewable energy, employs local people and supports the education of workers’ children. Families are never left behind. If a worker passes away, a family member is offered employment to help secure their future with dignity.
This commitment extends beyond the factory. LIPTON has installed a water filtration plant at Khanewal Public School, now providing clean drinking water to more than 3,500 people who previously had none. It means healthier students, peace of mind for mothers and the basic right to safe water for families.
LIPTON also supports women’s health. In partnership with the Patients’ Aid Foundation at Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre in Karachi, diagnostic machines and resources have been provided to the Women’s Wing. In just seven months, 5,665 women have received free treatment, with the goal of reaching 10,000 women across rural Pakistan.
Education remains central to LIPTON’s mission. Through The Citizens Foundation, two schools in Khanewal have provided education to more than 600 families. The higher education scholarship programme has also been expanded so no child misses out because of timing.
No campaign can capture the relief of a mother leaving hospital with her daughter safe and well, or the moment children see clean water flow in their school courtyard for the first time. These are not marketing stories. They are the real outcomes of LIPTON’s work in Pakistan.
From clean water and education to women’s health and local employment, LIPTON’s role in Pakistan is deliberate, long-term and rooted in responsibility.
This Independence Day, brew more than just tea
As Pakistan marks another year of freedom, LIPTON reaffirms its role not only as a brand but as a partner in progress. The work is far from complete, yet the direction is clear.
This Independence Day, LIPTON invites people to raise their cups not just in celebration but in care. For the 8,000 lives directly and indirectly touched by LIPTON’s initiatives in Khanewal and across Pakistan. For a Pakistan where every sip carries a story of impact.
Because when we people say, chai chahiye (I need tea), they mean much more than tea.
