ADCR sent to jail on judicial remand

LAHORE: A judicial magistrate on Friday sent Sialkot additional deputy commissioner revenue (ADCR) Muhammad Iqbal Sanghera to jail on judicial remand in a case registered by the Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE).

A team of the ACE presented Iqbal before the court on expiry of his physical remand.

The investigating officer submitted an application requesting the court to send the suspect to jail on 14-day judicial remand.

He stated that a luxury SUV, a Rolex watch, and files for two commercial plots were recovered from the suspect’s possession.

He said Rs1.47 million in bribe money was recovered from the accused.

The investigating officer further said that the suspect, being “extremely clever and cunning”, had been using various excuses and tactics.

The officer said there was no possibility of further recovery from the suspect.

He pointed out that the suspect had already been in physical remand for 13 days.

The IO asked the court to send the suspect to jail on 14-day judicial remand.

The magistrate allowed the request and sent the ADCR to jail on judicial remand with a direction to the IO to submit challan within the stipulated time.
