PESHAWAR: The first meeting of the newly-constituted Board of Governors of Paraplegic Centre Peshawar to review its financial and administrative affairs was held here with Dr Shehzad Bangash in the chair.

The meeting was attended by newly-appointed members of the board including Hafizur Rehman, Engineer Adil Nawaz, Prof Azmatullah Khattak, Prof Javed Iqbal, Dr Saeed Ahmad and the chief executive of the centre, Dr Syed Mohammad Ilyas.

Former chairman of BoG Ziaur Rehman and outgoing members of the board Dr Rubina Gillani, Khawaja Yawar Nasir and Dr Irfanullah, as well as Provincial Finance Secretary Aamir Sultan Tareen, Health Secretary Shahidullah Khan, the chief of health at planning and development department, Mohammad Yousaf Khan and the director of social welfare department, Syed Ali Bakhsh also attended the meeting.

The outgoing chairman and members of the board were paid rich tribute for their sincere services to the center and were presented with commemorative souvenirs.

Dr Shehzad Bangash and Dr Ilyas Syed praised the contributions of former chairman and members of board, stating that the tradition of honouring their services not only strengthened institutional values but also inspired the new leadership with lessons of dedication and commitment.

They expressed confidence that the mission of transforming Paraplegic Centre Peshawar into a world class rehabilitation facility would move forward with even greater momentum.

The meeting reviewed centre’s financial and administrative affairs in detail and approved reconstitution of finance, human resource and audit committees to enhance institution’s efficiency and transparency.

Dr Shehzad Bangash expressed gratitude to Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur, noting that the recent announcement of an increase in the centre’s funding would not only help to address its current financial challenges but would also pave the way for new avenues of development.

Calling the centre a unique institution in the country, he said that every possible effort would be made to ensure its continued progress.
