FC bomb disposal unit comes under attack in Lowi Mamund

BAJAUR: Unknown assailants opened fire on a Frontier Corps bomb disposal unit in Lowi Mamund tehsil here on Thursday evening, sparking fear among the local residents.

However, no loss of life was reported in the incident that occurred at a time when peace negotiations between members of Bajaur Aman Jirga and TTP leaders were said to have entered a crucial stage.

According to the local residents and official sources, the Frontier Corps bomb disposal unit met the incident in the hilly Nakhtar area after unknown assailants opened fire on its members.

It said that no loss of life was reported in the firing.

According to the residents, the incident has also caused an early closing of Laghari Bazaar, a major trade centre of Lowi Mamund tehsil, which reopened on

Wednesday after remaining shut since July 29.

According to the sources, several religious leaders also joined the Bajaur Aman Jirga members in Thursday’s talks held in Lowi Mamund tehsil.
