Newly-posted CTO assumes charge

RAWALPINDI: The newly posted Chief Traffic Officer of Rawalpindi Farhan Aslam on Thursday assumed duties, pledging to respect people and streamline traffic by enforcing traffic laws in the garrison city.

Before joining his new assignment, Farhan Aslam was CTO in Faisalabad. Earlier, SP Farhan had served in Rawalpindi as SDPO Civil Lines and Waris Khan Circles.

On his arrival at the Traffic Headquarters Race Course, the CTO was saluted by a colorful contingent of the Traffic Police and presented with a bouquet.

On this occasion, the CTO met all the branch in-charges individually and visited different branches of the Traffic Headquarters. During his visit, the CTO reviewed the facilities provided to the citizens at the headquarters.

On this occasion, he directed that the traffic wardens and staff to adopt a polite and professional attitude towards the citizens, especially with women, senior citizens and transgender persons.

Moreover, all the stages of obtaining a licence should be simplified and merit should be maintained at all costs, he sdaid.

He said the traffic police is a disciplinary force, whose duty is to ensure implementation of the law and road safety.

He directed the in-charge of the Education Wing to make seminars and awareness programmes more effective to make citizens aware of traffic rules, while the in-charge of the Driving School was directed to further expand the scope of the Women on Wheels programme.

He advised the circle officers to take strict action against illegal parking and encroachments and maintain traffic flow in the city at all costs.

The CTO appealed to the public to fully comply with traffic rules and prove themselves as responsible citizens.

He reiterated that all possible steps will be taken to make the City Traffic Police Rawalpindi an exemplary force of Punjab.

The CTO Rawalpindi expressed his determination that the convenience of citizens and uninterrupted traffic flow on the roads is his top priority and all resources will be utilised to achieve this goal.
