Justice Panhwar of SC administers oath to bar associations’ office-bearers
MIRPURKHAS: Justice Salahuddin Panhwar of the Supreme Court has administered oath to the newly-elected office-bearers of the high court and district bar associations of Mirpurkhas.
Speaking at the oath-taking ceremony held here on Tuesday night in a local hall, he talked about a lack of health facilities in most districts of Sindh and said that students of far-flung areas, including Umerkot, Tharparkar, Mirpurkhas, Sanghar districts, were not able to get higher education in their hometowns; they were compelled to travel long distances to Sindh University.
He lamented that the judiciary gave decisions to improve the education system and end the menace of drugs from society, but bureaucracy did not implement its directives in letter and spirit.
He asked police to take notice of open sale of gutka and other drugs in the province and arrest those involved in that illegal business. He hoped that the office-bearers would work according to their oath.
The president of the Sindh High Court Bar Association Mirpurkhas, Mir Pervez Akhtar Talpur, also spoke at the ceremony.
Earlier, Justice Panhwar was accorded a warm welcome on arrival by District Bar Association Mirpurkhas president Jumniad Maher and lawyers Asif Qureshi, Adnan Khurram, Sher Mohammad Wassan and Yousaf Laghari.
