Suspect killed during ‘encounter’

TOBA TEK SINGH: A suspect who had allegedly escaped from custody the other day has been killed during an encounter with the Crime Control Department (CCD) in Faisalabad.

The police claimed that Nabeel of Chak 163-RB, Balaggan, had escaped from CCD custody with connivance of his accomplices during an encounter near Nishatabad.

On Tuesday, the CCD team raided Mahiyay Shahwala graveyard located in the Jhang Bazaar area to arrest the criminals where four suspects opened fire on the personnel who was also retaliated. When the firing stopped, police found Nabeel in injured condition while his three accomplices escaped.

Nabeel was shifted to the Allied Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. As per the routine, the CCD claimed that he died due to the firing of his own accomplices.

The police alleged that Nabil had shot a Dolphin Squad personnel in an encounter in 2023 and was wanted in more than 100 robberies.

Addressing the gathering of women director social security Chaudhry Ihsanul Haq, Labour Welfare Department director Rai Yasin Kharal, SAP representative Mohibba Ahmad, GIC programme manager Siddiq Akbar, Women Workers Alliance chairperson Perveen Latif and Labour Qaumi Movement chairman Baba Latif Ansari emphasised that women should join textile industry to earn livelihood.
