Property dealer shot dead in ‘targeted attack’
KARACHI: A property dealer was shot dead in a suspected targeted attack in Gulistan-i-Jauhar on Saturday evening.
Police said that Muhammad Arshad, 29, was travelling in a car when armed motorcyclists intercepted him near Continental Bakery in Block-15, sprayed his vehicle with bullets and rode away.
The man sustained multiple bullet wounds and died on the spot.
The body was shifted to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for medico-legal formalities.
A police officer said the victim was a resident of Gulshan-i-Iqbal, but he originally hailed from Okara.
He said that he was involved in property business.
The officer said it appeared to be an incident of targeted killing. However, police were investigating the exact motive behind the murder.
Murder accused kills relative in Orangi
A man, who was recently released from prison on bail in a murder case, shot dead his relative and wounded another in Orangi Town on Saturday, police said.
Mominabad SHO Meraj Anwar told Dawn the suspect, identified as Tahir, was arrested and the pistol used in the crime also recovered.
He identified the deceased as Adnan Anwar, 40, and wounded as Waqar Ali, 35.
The SHO said that the suspect demanded cash from his relative and upon his refusal, he started firing, killing Adnan and wounding Waqar.
He said the held suspect had killed a man in 2020 in Orangi. He was arrested and charged with the murder. However, he was released on bail around a fortnight ago.
