Encroachments at Hawkesbay truck stand removed
KARACHI: In a successful operation, the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) has removed encroachments at the Hawkesbay truck stand.
Official sources said that encroachments along a 1.5-kilometre service road had been causing severe traffic congestion in the area, as goods transporters were parking their trucks and trailers on the main road.
They stated that, following the directives of Karachi Commissioner Syed Hassan Naqvi, an anti-encroachment team of the KMC carried out the operation to clear the area.
The service road had been illegally occupied by motor repair workshops, food stalls and roadside restaurants.
The commissioner noted that the removal of encroachments had improved traffic flow on Hawkesbay Road and resolved the long-standing issue of congestion.
He directed the deputy commissioner to ensure that encroachments do not reappear and to improve parking facilities in coordination with the goods transporters’ association.
Shopkeepers have been instructed to operate within their designated boundaries and to prevent any unauthorised encroachments in front of their premises.
