Four held for ‘attacking’ doctors after patient’s death in Sahiwal

SAHIWAL: The Farid Town police have arrested four attendants of a patient who died at the emergency ward of the Sahiwal Teaching Hospital for allegedly attacking doctors and breaking hospital equipment.

Reports said a patient named Muhamamd Ilyas was brought from Sherain Wali Gali, Green Town, to the emergency ward. After his death, his relatives blamed the non-availability of senior doctors and exchanged harsh words with the doctors and staff.

They allegedly manhandled three doctors, including two female doctors, and the paramedical staff. They also allegedly broke windowpane, FCG and a nebuliser machines costing Rs0.7 million.

After the hospital staff called police, four people were arrested, including deceased’s son Shahbaz, brothers Bilal and Shiraz, and Zain.

The police booked them on the compliant of Security supervisor Noor Hasan.
