MOHMAND: Acting on the directives of the deputy commissioner, Mohmand Yasir Hassan, the district administration here the other day launched an anti-encroachment operation in the Michini area on the left bank of the Kabul River, reclaiming approximately 125 marlas of the state land.

The operation was spearheaded by the assistant commissioner Lower, Mohmand Awais Khan, accompanied by additional assistant commissioner, TMO Lower Mohmand, naib tehsildar Ekkaghund, SHO Ekkaghund, and officials from the irrigation department. The technical and emergency support was provided by teams from the Tesco and Rescue 1122.

The drive specifically targeted encroachments identified by the irrigation department along the riverbank. Despite some resistance from local residents, the situation remained under control, and the operation concluded without any untoward incident.

As part of the enforcement action, five illegally constructed houses were demolished, and one commercial shop was sealed, while the ongoing unauthorised construction was halted, and all fresh developments near the riverbank were ordered to cease immediately.
