Ahsan claim’s U-21 bronze at IBSF worlds
MANAMA: Pakistan’s triumphant snooker contingent, led by newly crowned world champions Mohammad Asif (Masters) and Mohammad Hasnain Akhtar (Under-17), will arrive in Karachi on Friday morning after Ahsan Ramzan secured a bronze medal in the IBSF Under-21 World Snooker Championship on Thursday, concluding Pakistan’s medal haul here at the Crowne Plaza hotel.
The 19-year-old Ahsan was outclassed in the semi-finals as he fell 5-2 against Poland’s Sebastian Milewski.
Ahsan — who won the Asian U-21 title in Tehran in 2023 — couldn’t find a consistent rhythm as Milewski heavy scoring proved decisive.
Ahsan clawed a frame back 60-38 but Milewski’s breaks of 66 [77(66)-01] and 60 [72(60)-31] sealed the victory.
The Polish cuesist won the first set frame with a break of 32 [59(32)-46] before taking a two frame lead with a brilliant clearance of 119 [119(119)-0].
Despite the loss, Ahsan’s semi-final finish earned Pakistan its third medal — adding to Asif’s and Hasnain’s gold.
