Tayyab, Saddam, Varun and Imad reach squash semis
KARACHI: The semi-final lineup for the Jahangir Khan PSA Series Challenger Squash Tournament was finalised on Thursday here at the Jahangir Khan Sports Club. Squash legend Jahangir Khan attended the matches and encouraged the players.
According to tournament director Naveed Alam, the quarter-finals of the five-day event saw Tayyab Aslam (Sui Northern Gas Company) defeat Azan Ali (Army) 3-1.
Mohammad Imad (Air Force) advanced to the semi-finals after his opponent, Punjab’s Khaqan Malik, retired injured during their match.
Pakistan Army’s Saddam ul Haq secured a 3-2 victory over Punjab’s Sakhiullah in a closely contested match lasting sixty-five minutes.
Saddam recovered after losing the first two games, with the final scores reading 9-11, 5-11, 11-6, 15-13, 11-5. Punjab’s Varun Asif defeated Sindh’s wildcard entrant Hassan Paracha 3-0.
The semi-finals will be played on Friday, with the tournament’s final set for Saturday.
