Top seeds triumph as Challenger Squash begins
KARACHI: Top seeds registered convincing wins as the ninth Jahangir Khan PSA Series Challenger Squash Tournament commenced here at the Jahangir Khan Sports Club in Shahr-e-Quaid on Tuesday.
Eight first-round matches were decided on the opening day. Sui Northern Gas’s (SNGPL) Mohammad Zaman outclassed Sindh’s Abdul Ahad with a decisive 3-0 victory.
Punjab’s Varun Asif secured a 3-0 win against Mohammad Fawad. Sindh’s Hassan Paracha defeated fellow provincial player Zohaib Khan 3-0. Azan Khan of Army overcame Punjab’s Abdullah Nadeem 3-0. In another Sindh derby, Sikandar Khan defeated Talha Saeed 3-0.
Further results saw Abdul Basit (Sindh) triumph over Mohammad Babar (Punjab). Naveed Rehman (Sindh) recorded a 3-0 victory against Abdullah Zaman (Pakistan Air Force). Punjab’s Ashar Butt advanced to the next round by defeating PAF’s Harira Khan 3-1.
The final of the event, offering a prize purse of $3,000, will be played on July 26.
