“A demonstration is about to begin in central London with the participation of about a couple of hundreds representatives of aid organisations,” Al Jazeera’s Sonia Gallego reports from London.
“This is an action by a collection of non-governmental organisations, including Oxfam and Doctors Without Borders (MSF), who decided to come here at Parliament Square just before Parliament breaks up for summer recess to raise the point of exactly how destructive this war has been on the lives of Palestinians in Gaza,” Gallego says.
“They are going to gather behind a red line with the banner ‘Red Line for Gaza’, drawing attention to the fact that a red line in this conflict has very much been crossed.”
Each person will be holding an item which represents what is being lost; such as the death of children, lack of healthcare, destroyed homes and the ongoing starvation.
There will also be a poetry reading by the Palestinian poet Hiba Abu Nada, the 32-year-old who was killed by an Israeli strike in Gaza.
