Many city areas receive early morning showers

KARACHI: Many areas of the metropolis received light rain overnight and early in the morning on Sunday.

According to the Met Office, the highest amount of rainfall, 2.3 millimetres, was recorded on University Road; followed by 2mm at Airport, old city area, PAF Base Faisal and Gulshan-i-Hadeed; 1.4mm at Korangi and Jinnah Terminal; 1mm at Keamari and 0.2mm at Surjani Town.

“Current weather conditions in Karachi show sea breeze blowing at a light pace and the level of humidity is at around 78 per cent. These moisture-laden winds are contributing to the development of rain clouds over the coastal city,” said a Met official.

Looking ahead, he said, another monsoon system is likely to impact Sindh by the end of July, which could bring more widespread and potentially heavier rains to Karachi and other parts of the province.
