SUKKUR: Three young friends drowned in the Indus River near Rohri on Friday.

According to police and rescuers, four friends were bathing in the river when they were swept away by strong currents. Divers from among the locals rushed to their rescue and managed to save one of them, Sunny, son of Shehzad Qureshi.

They continued their efforts but could only fish out bodies of Saad, son of Faheem Abbasi, Fayyaz, son of Nooruddin Malik, and Naveed, son of Pappu.

They all were residents of Baba Murad Shah Colony of Bashirabad, Sukkur district.
