LAHORE: The Punjab government on Thursday banned bathing in accumulated rainwater on streets, roads, open spaces and other low-lying areas.

The ban shall remain in force for 45 days from the date of issuance unless withdrawn.

The Punjab home department imposed Section 144, completely banning bathing in accumulated rainwater; swimming by any person in dams, rivers, canals, ponds, lakes and distributaries.

It also banned boating by any unauthorised person or for unauthorised purposes in dams, rivers, canals, ponds, lakes and distributaries.
