SNGPL help desk to be established at Rawalpindi chamber
RAWALPINDI: Sui Northern Gas Pipelines (SNGPL) Help Desk will be established at Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI)to facilitate the business community and provide real-time support and guidance.
This was stated during SNGPL delegation’s visit to RCCI to discuss key initiatives aimed at improving gas supply, infrastructure, and customer service for the business community in the region.
During the visit, it was announced that a dedicated SNGPL Help Desk will be established at RCCIto facilitate the business community and provide real-time support and guidance.
The delegation also shared that work has commenced on a major project to supply an additional 100 MMCFD (Million Cubic Feet per Day) of gas to Rawalpindi, which will help mitigate low gas pressure and load-shedding issues during the winter season.
The officials confirmed that the segregation of gas supply lines for Rawalpindi and Islamabad has been successfully completed, improving distribution efficiency. Notably, SNGPL has significantly reduced its gas losses from 13pc to 5pc, and customer service delivery is being further enhanced.
The SNGPL delegation comprised Saqib Arbab, Deputy Managing Director (Operations), Faisal Iqbal, Deputy Managing Director (Services), Taj Ali Khan, Senior General Manager (Distribution North), and Masum Abrar, General Manager, Rawalpindi Region.
RCCI Acting President Khalid Farooq Qazi and members of the Executive Committee, representatives of the trader community, and other chamber members were present as well.
SNGPL officials provided a comprehensive briefing on ongoing and upcoming projects aimed at addressing gas shortages, low pressure, and the issuance of domestic and commercial connections. To enhance transparency and communication, regular awareness sessionswill be held for consumers.
The delegation also revealed that SNGPL is undertaking a major upgrade of gas metersto monitor leakage, supply pressure, and improve overall efficiency. A new project has also been initiated to tackle issues such as pipeline deterioration, leakage, EVS meter malfunctions, and overbilling.
Additionally, the SNGPL team announced plans to visit the Rawat Industrial Estateto conduct a survey and assess the feasibility of establishing a help desk there as well.
During the meeting, RCCI members raised concerns regarding low pressure, delayed industrial connections, and service issues, to which the SNGPL officials assured timely resolution, improved coordination, and consistent stakeholder engagement moving forward.
