Five killed in Dera truck-car collision

DERA ISMAIL KHAN: A tragic road accident on Chashma Road in Paharpur tehsil here on Thursday claimed lives of five persons including a medical student and her two brothers when a car collided head-on with a truck.

The impact was so severe that all passengers died on the spot and the car was completely destroyed. According to Rescue 1122 spokesperson Aizaz Mehmood, the Punjab-bound truck collided with a GLI car coming from Islamabad to Dera Ismail Khan.

Upon receiving the report, district emergency officer Engineer Fasihullah of Rescue 1122 immediately dispatched two ambulances and a recovery vehicle. The rescue teams swiftly carried out the operation and transported the bodies to Paharpur Hospital.

The victims were identified as Rooda Munir, her brothers Mohammad Motasim and Mohammad Talha, their relative Muzammil and car driver Waseem.

The bodies were trapped in the wreckage and were retrieved by cutting the vehicle using machinery.

It has been reported that the deceased siblings were students, with Rooda Munir studying medicine.

Meanwhile, a policeman was abducted from his residence in Darki village, located within the jurisdiction of Gul Imam police station in Tank district.

According to police sources, the abducted officer has been identified as Hikmatullah. Following the incident, police and security forces launched a search operation in the area to recover the abductee.

The motives behind the abduction and identity of the perpetrators remain unknown at this stage.
