Policeman injured in Bannu raid
LAKKI MARWAT: A police official was injured in an armed clash with terrorists in Nurar area of Bannu district late Wednesday night.
A police official said that the clash took place when policemen raided the hideouts of terrorists during an intelligence-based operation in the limits of Miryan police station.
He said DPO Saleem Abbas Kulachi commanded the late night operation on the directives of RPO Sajjad Khan. The commandos of Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) also participated in the operation.
The official said that the terrorists opened fire on the law enforcers also set a police vehicle ablaze, leading to a fierce gun battle. “In an intense exchange of fire, a police official was injured and moved to the District Headquarters Hospital,” he maintained, saying that the counter attack by the police was successful as the terrorists also suffered casualties during the operation.
Meanwhile, police destroyed sanctuaries of miscreants in remote areas of Lakki Marwat on Thursday.
DPO Mohammad Jawad Ishaq said that a search and strike operation was conducted in Aezerkhel, Chuharkhel, Sarga Kherukhel and Jhangkhel areas on information about presence of miscreants, criminals and drug barons there.
“During the operation, the police assisted by Elite Force commandos, bomb disposal unit personnel backed by armoured personnel carriers eliminated hideouts of anti-state elements,” he claimed.
The DPO said that police also destroyed narcotics dens in the rural localities and captured several suspects during the day-long operation.
