RAWALPINDI: The Director-General of Inter-Services Intelligence, Lt-Gen. Ghulam Jilani, today [July 9] revealed before the Supreme Court that 120 potential saboteurs entered Pakistan on the night between July 3 and 4 last. The General was answering questions during his evidence in the Government reference on the dissolution of the National Awami Party. The General said some sabotage incidents had taken place since the entry of these saboteurs, and mentioned the recent damage to the Boeing aircraft at Chaklala as one of them. …

…[A]sked if these saboteurs had links with NAP, Gen Jilani said he had already submitted a file to indicate these links. … …[I]n reply to another question, whether special surveillance was the result of the rift between NAP and the ruling party, the General said “no”. … Asked … how the [DG ISI] tested the veracity of some reports, the General gave details of the method employed in this regard and gradation given to various reports. … …[T]he witness said some of the reports of [ISI] had been confirmed by subsequent events… . He then submitted a list of events and recovery of arms which had been anticipated by his agency.
