N. Waziristan jirga to discuss law, order today

NORTH WAZIRISTAN: A jirga of tribal elders will be held today (Friday) to devise joint strategy regarding the worsening law and order situation and possible military operation in Mirali tehsil of North Waziristan district.

The decision was taken in a meeting of Dawar and Wazir tribal elders held here on Thursday. Jirga spokesman Mufti Baitullah told media-persons that the jirga will held after Friday prayers at 2.30pm to discuss the current law and order situation in the district.

He appealed to the tribal people to gather in Mirali to formulate a plan of action in the current situation.

The decision comes at a time when the law and order situation in the area has deteriorated and public is very concerned about a possible operation.

Mufti Baitullah made it clear that a platform should be established to discuss the law and order situation with the government authorities so that the ongoing tension and unrest in the region could be done away with.

It merits a mention here that a few days back a suicide attack on a convoy of security forces in Khadi area on Mirali-Miramshah Road took place in which 13 security personnel were martyred.
