BAHAWALNAGAR: The Bakhshan Khan police on Friday arrested a man accused of unleashing a dog on a minor boy in village Mochipura.

Complainant Daud Khan told the police that a few days ago he had exchanged harsh words with his neighbour Muhammad Chand alias Kale Khan when he asked him to not let his pet loose.

He alleged that on Friday at 9am his son Usman (5) was in the street when Chand unleashed his dog on him. The dog mauled the boy, leaving him seriously injured and he was shifted to a hospital for treatment, he added.

A press release issued by the DPO office said that after DPO Kamran Asghar took notice of the incident, police registered a case against the dog owner under section 289 of the PPC and arrested him.

ROOF COLLAPSE: A child died in a roof collapse incident in Bolay Wali Kat village near Jalwala road on Friday.

According to details, four-year-old Zain was buried under the debris when the roof of the house of labourer Zoulfiqar caved in due to heavy rain. Rescue 1122 and residents of the area rushed to the site and retrieved the dead body from the debris.

CYLINDER BLAST: A woman and her minor daughter received severe burn injuries when a cooking gas cylinder exploded, setting the house on fire at village Noorsar near Donga Bonga on Friday.

According to Rescue 1122, Bushra Bibi was cooking meal when the cylinder exploded. She and her minor daughter suffered burns and they were rushed to the Donga Bonga rural health centre.

Later, Rescue 1122 shifted the woman and the child to the Bahawalnagar DHQ hospital where they were said to be in critical condition.
