Lawyers flay US bombing of Iran nuclear sites
PESHAWAR: Condemning the mass killings of Palestinians and attack on Iran, the legal fraternity here on Tuesday termed Israel a ‘Zionist and illegitimate’ state that was a continuous threat to the countries in the entire region.
An emergency general body meeting of Peshawar Bar Association (PBA) chaired by its president Qaiser Zaman declared that the attacks on Iran by Israel was an attack on the entire Muslim world, which should be condemned in strongest possible terms.
“This House strongly condemns the United States’ illegal, unlawful, and prejudiced support for the extremist Zionist state of Israel, which is not only in violation of international laws and the United Nations Charter but also a gross breach of fundamental human rights,” states a resolution unanimously adopted at the meeting.
The meeting also condemned the US bombing of nuclear sites in Iran, and termed it not only serious violations of international laws, the UN Charter, and the regulations of the International Atomic Energy Agency, but also as a clear exposure of the deceptive face of America, the so-called flag-bearer of democracy.
The meeting termed US President Donald Trump an incompetent and shortsighted person, stating that his ‘enmity’ towards Islam had pushed the world to the brink of a third world war.
The lawyers also condemned the role of Organisation of Islamic Cooperation, and demanded that it should fulfill its actual responsibilities by explicitly supporting the Islamic Republic of Iran, Palestine and the Iranian nation, including through military assistance.
The meeting also condemned the US for blocking every attempt to halt the genocide of Muslims in Palestine, particularly Gaza, by continuously using its veto power against ceasefire efforts.
The lawyers called upon the UN to immediately declare Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu as war criminals, arrest them and try them for war crimes.
The meeting was followed by a protest rally in which the lawyers put on fire the flags of Israel and portraits of Trump and Netanyahu.
