City’s feels like temperature soars to 52°C
KARACHI: Mercury soared to 40 degrees Celsius in many areas of the city on Friday as hot to very hot weather gripped most parts of the province.
High humidity levels, scorching heat amidst power outages kept the residents on the edge in Karachi where the feels-like temperature was 52.3°C around 3pm.
Parts of Gulistan-i-Jauhar and the airport area were hottest with 40°C temperature. City’s average temperature, however, was 39.1°C.
Jacobabad sizzles at 51°C
The Met department’s data showed temperature touched or crossed 47°C at least in 10 cities — Larkana, Khairpur, Dadu, Rohri and Sukkur (48°C) Mohenjo Daro (49°C), Shaheed Benazirabad, Paddidan and Sakrand (47°C).
Jacobabad, however, was the hottest city with 51°C.
The department has forecast dust-thunderstorm/rain in parts of Umerkot, Tharparkar on Saturday under the influence of a westerly wave.
