NAROWAL: A 12-year-old boy committed suicide here on Friday as his parents refused to buy him new shoes for Eid due to poverty.

Ahmed, the son of labourer Mohammad Naveed of Model Town, demanded new shoes for Eid from his parents. Due to poverty, his parents could not fulfil his wish.

When Naveed and his wife were not at home, the boy committed suicide by stabbing himself in the throat.

He was shifted to the DHQ Hospital in a critical condition. He was declared dead by the on-duty doctor in the emergency ward of the hospital.

The police handed over the body to his family after necessary legal proceedings.
