POOR CONSTRUCTION
POOR CONSTRUCTION: Quetta’s new Sabzal Road, constructed in 2022, now features numerous potholes, causing serious inconvenience to commuters. This shows poor material usage and substandard construction. As a result, people are bearing the brunt of official negligence. The relevant authorities must repair the road before it gets completely damaged.

LOOSE DRESSES: As an ophthalmologist, I have come across in my clinical practice devastated individuals with lost eyes after their loose abaaya dressing got entangled in motorcycle wheels. Such an episode can cause permanent damage to the face and requires multiple surgeries, which, in many cases, do not lead to complete recovery and restoration. The psychological effects in the shape of depression and agony follow soon. The practice of wearing loose dressing on motorcycles should be abandoned.

LAW EDUCATION: The Higher Education Commission (HEC) is planning to approve a four-year law degree (LLB) programme, replacing the traditional five-year model. This is a great initiative by the HEC and the Pakistan Bar Council (PBC), as it will not only reduce the duration, but also align Pakistan’s legal education with international standards. This responsible and pragmatic move represents good news for the students.

MEANINGLESS BAN: The Sindh government recently imposed a ban on display of firearms for 90 days. Under the ban, private security guards are not allowed to carry a weapon openly. They have been asked to conceal their firearms. Just out of curiosity, I need to know how many cellphones have been snatched, or murders have been committed by private security guards in the city. How can a security guard protect a property or an individual with a concealed weapon? All such notifications are meaningless.
