Nutrition project discussed with World Food Programme

ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Climate Change and Environmental Coordination Dr Musadik Malik on Friday met the UN World Food Programme country director, Coco Ushiyama, to discuss climate-focused initiatives under the WFP-government five-year cooperation framework.

According to a statement, the meeting focused on stunting prevention in Pakistan, with particular attention to the “4Cs” — climate change, conflict, Covid-induced downturns, and corruption — as key drivers of malnutrition.

Both sides agreed on the need for anticipatory, results-oriented programs that incorporate climate adaptation and resilience-building into national nutrition strategies.

The discussion reinforced a shared commitment to aligning development efforts with climate resilience, particularly in support of Pakistan’s national nutrition and sustainable development goals.
