KARACHI: The first trade conference between Pakistan and Bharat under the recent short-term agreement will begin on Secretariat level in New Delhi from May 30, it was reliably learnt in Karachi on Thursday [May 25]. The main object of the conference is to review the implementation of the trade agreement signed at Karachi on April 21. According to circles close to the Trade delegation, matters of mutual interest and the possibility of further expansion of trade … will come up for discussion.
[Meanwhile, according to Dawn’s Lucknow correspondent,] The UP Government are considering a 12-point programme of restoring confidence among the minorities in the state and affording them all possible help to return to their home towns and resettle there, it is understood here. The programme has been chalked out to implement the Delhi Pact in letter and spirit. The proposals … are claimed to be very practical and are expected to yield good results. … It is learnt that the Government have also drawn up a scheme for restoring the abandoned property of Muslims to those who return under the terms of the Delhi Pact.
