Repatriation of Afghans continues
PESHAWAR: Repatriation of Afghan nationals, both carrying Afghan Citizen Card (ACC) and those residing illegally in Pakistan, continued as 690 Afghan nationals have left for their homeland.
So far, a total of 55,865 Afghan nationals including 35,975 ACC holders and 19,890 illegal migrants have left for Afghanistan since April 1, the day the second phase began after the deadline for repatriation of registered Afghan nationals ended on March 31.
Officials said that of 690 Afghan nationals, 142 carried ACC and 548 were residing illegally in Pakistan. They said that 142 ACC holders along with 531 illegal Afghan immigrants left for Afghanistan via Torkham border crossing in Khyber district while 17 left the country via Angoor Adda border crossing in South Waziristan district.
