Sialkot Met office to have new system

SIALKOT, May 6: An ultramodern meteorological radar system is being installed at the Sialkot Met office, which will enable it to give accurate weather forecast within a radius of 150 kilometres.

The catchment areas of the neighbouring occupied Jammu and Kashmir will be covered.

According to officials, Rs50 million would be spent on the new system which would replace the old installation lying out of order for the last three years. The project, they said, would be completed in three months.

The officials said yet another advanced meteorological radar system would also be established soon at Mangla at a cost of Rs2,340 million. This system would have a range of 450km.
