Suspected robber shot, arrested by CCD

BAHAWALPUR: The Jahanian Control Crime Department (CCD) in district Khanewal arrested a suspected robber after he was injured in an encounter in the suburbs of Chak 17/10-R early Saturday.

The suspect was identified as Tariq, a resident of Mian Channu.

According to police sources, three robbers snatched a motorcycle from a farmer near Jungle Mariala railway crossing and the CCD officials swung into action.

The CCD team intercepted three fleeing suspects near Chak 174/10-R where firing was exchanged between both the parties. Tariq suffered injuries during the firing while his accomplices managed to flee, leaving the injured behind. The CCD official shifted the injured suspect to hospital while a case was registered.

In another incident in the area, Constable Abbas suffered injuries in the firing by two motorcyclists at a police picket near Jahanian. The injured suspect was shifted to the Khanewal hospital while District Police Officer Ismail Kharak rushed to the scene.

Meanwhile, Lodhran CCD arrested a murderer who was among the top ten wanted proclaimed offenders in the area.

Shabbir alias Shabba was the main killer in the murder of one Asghar since 2023 and he fled away after he allegedly shot dead Asghar. The CCD claimed that he was arrested with geofencing.

RAILWAYS: The divisional superintendent (DS) of railways Multan, during an anti-encroachment campaign, claimed to have retrieved 50 marla commercial land worth Rs20m from the illegal occupants around the Zarif Shaheed Railway Station on Bahawalpur-Shujabad railway section.
