CTD arrests TTP militant in Sahiwal
SAHIWAL: The Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) arrested a militant affiliated with the Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) in a raid near Super City Housing Society on the Lahore-Multan National Highway.
Sources identified the militant as Muhammad Husnain, a resident of Ahmedpur East, district Bahawalpur.
During the operation, the CTD officials seized a cache of explosives, including a live improvised explosive device (IED), a dry battery, cables, a cell phone, electrical circuits, an iron box, nails, a camera and cash. The authorities called in Muhammad Ramzan, a Civil Defense expert, to neutralise the IED, which contained 1,950 grams of explosives.
Speaking toDawnby the phone, Ramzan said he had identified three explosive devices in Husnain’s bags and defused them. A case has been registered against Husnain with CTD Police Station, Sahiwal. The suspect has been shifted to the CTD regional office for interrogation.
RAPE: The City Police Station of Chichawatni arrested two youths on charge of raping and blackmailing a BS student. The suspects used mobile video recordings of the assault, which took place on Nov 27, 2024, to blackmail the victim.
According to reports, Bano, a schoolteacher, a resident of Chak 27/11-L, was the guardian of her niece who was studying at a private college in Chichawatni city. The girl commuted to college by a private van alongside her neighbour girl who knew both the suspects. On Nov 27, one of the suspects allegedly offered a car ride to both the girls after their classes.
During the journey, one of the suspects, who was armed with a pistol, kidnapped Bano’s niece and took her to an abandoned house where he raped her. His accomplice recorded the incident on mobile phone. After that day, the main suspect started blackmailing both the girls, threatening them with posting the video online if they told their families about the incident.
Since November, the victim was frequently called through blackmail and raped. The victim finally told her aunt.
A case was registered on May 7.
According to the SHO City Police, both accused had been arrested during a late night operation at their village and they had confessed to committing the crime.
