RAWALPINDI: The Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE) Rawalpindi announced on Tuesday that the annual intermediate examinations have begun in the division.

The BISE said it had adopted a strict monitoring and zero-tolerance policy to ensure transparent examinations.

According to BISE spokesman Arslan Cheema, on the first day of the examinations, papers on psychology, food and nutrition, military science and home economics were conducted.

A total of 185 examination centres have been established in the Rawalpindi division, where more than 1,762 staff members are performing their duties.

Under Section 144, the entry of unauthorised persons into the examination centres has been strictly prohibited, the official said.

To ensure transparency, he said close circuit TV (CCTV) cameras have been installed in all centres and were being monitored online.

Strict action will be taken against impersonators, who may face unfair means cases, fines and even detention, he added.

“Separate control rooms have been set up in each district to monitor the examination system, while a central control room is fully functional at the board office. The district administration is fully supporting us and the lists of examination staff have been shared with the special branch of the police,” he said.

He added that Rawalpindi BISE Chairman Adnan Khan and Controller of Examinations Tanveer Asghar Awan visited various examination centres and reviewed the arrangements in detail.

Quoting the BISE chairman, he said, “In line with the vision of the Punjab government, the zero-tolerance policy is being fully implemented and we will not tolerate corruption or cheating in the examination system.”
