Mercury crosses 40°C in Karachi

KARACHI: The city experienced hot and dry weather conditions on Sunday with temperature crossing 40 degrees Celsius.

The Met Office said the city’s maximum was 40.4°C with 15 per cent humidity.

However, the weather conditions improved after sunset, following the resumption of the sea breeze, which blew at a speed of 22 kilometres per hour.

An official described the current weather conditions as a heatwave and said it would likely to persist for three more days.

Jacobabad became the hottest place in the country where the maximum temperature was 43°C, followed by Shaheed Benazirabad, Mirpurkhas and Mithi (42°C), Hyderabad (41°C), Sukkur and Dadu (40°C).

The Met Office forecast “very hot and dry weather” in most parts of the province on Monday (today).
