Honouring Jinnah’s legacy on diversity
This is regarding the cover story “Honouring Jinnah’s legacy on diversity” by Shahmeer Asif (YW, December 21st). The article brilliantly highlighted the significance of December 25th, which marks both Muhammad Ali Jinnah’s birthday and Christmas.
The writer reflected on how this day represents Jinnah’s vision of a diverse, unified Pakistan, where people of all religions coexist peacefully. Through personal anecdotes, the writer emphasised the importance of religious tolerance and mutual respect, core values that Jinnah championed.
I agree with the writer as he calls for continued respect for all faiths, encouraging readers to embody kindness and understanding in their everyday lives, ensuring a more harmonious future.

I appreciated the sentiment of celebrating unity and diversity in Shahmeer Asif’s article “Honouring Jinnah’s legacy on diversity,” and it prompted me to reflect on the message from a slightly different perspective.
The writer’s portrayal of Quaid-i-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah as a symbol of religious freedom and coexistence is admirable, but it’s crucial to recognise that Jinnah’s vision has not always been fully realised in practice.
It’s important to understand that the story of peaceful coexistence should be the norm, not the exception. While the article highlighted the beauty of shared moments among diverse communities, we cannot overlook the ongoing struggles of minority groups who often face discrimination and violence.
To truly honour Jinnah’s legacy, we must go beyond words and take tangible steps toward creating real change in how we treat one another.

Wonder craft
This is with reference to the Wonder craft, “Mini Christmas Tree” by The Crafter (YW, December 21). I always enjoy reading the crafts section and try to recreate the projects for myself or my friends. This little Christmas tree especially caught my attention, and I immediately made one for myself.
The simplicity of the project makes it accessible to everyone, even those with minimal crafting experience. Overall, it was a charming and easy-to-follow DIY that encouraged creativity while embracing the festive spirit of Christmas. No doubt, sometimes the best gifts are the ones made with our own hands and shared with others.
