PESHAWAR: A police officer was martyred when unidentified persons opened fire on him within the jurisdiction of Daudzai police station on Thursday night, police said.

A statement issued by city police said that assistant sub-inspector Safiullah, a resident of Dab area in Naguman, was posted at police’s special branch.

The statement added that police reached the area and shifted the body for postmortem adding that empties were recovered from the spot. It also read that an investigation was launched into the incident.
