Operation against encroachments intensified

LAHORE: The district administration on Wednesday intensified the operation against encroachments and illegal cattle sheds, besides efforts to improve sanitation across the city.

During these operations, action was taken in different localities against unauthorised animal sheds, and properties being used for illegal cattle farming were sealed.

In two separate operations in Model Town, overseen by Assistant Commissioner (AC) Sahibzada Muhammad Yousaf, 21 shops were sealed and goods loaded on four trucks were confiscated.

In Shalimar, AC Anum Fatima headed an operation, retrieving 12 kanals of government land worth Rs240 million.

In another operation in Garhi Shahu Bazaar, 11 food points were sealed.

City AC Babar Ali Rai conducted operations against encroachments and banners on The Mall, Hall Road, Urdu Bazaar, and Anarkali Bazaar.

In Nishtar Town, AC Muhammad Saleem Aasi oversaw operations against encroachments and banners on Ferozepur Road.

Ravi Town AC Tariq Shabbir took action in the vegetable market, confiscating a truckload of fruit and vegetables.

Cantonment AC Fatima Arshad visited Allama Iqbal Road, Infantry Road, and Main Canal Road, directing the removal of banners and action against street vendors.

Raiwind AC Zainab Tahir, Allama Iqbal Town AC Khawaja Muhammad Umair Mahmood, Saddar AC Abdul Basit Siddiqui also carried out anti encroachment operations in their respective jurisdictions.

Deputy Commissioner (DC) Syed Musa Raza said that a cleaner environment would be ensured in the city to enhance its beauty and improve facilities for its inhabitants.

Earlier, the DC visited various locations in Shalimar tehsil to assess the progress of cleanliness and anti-encroachment initiative.

He said encroachments by land grabbers would not be tolerated, and that legal action would be taken without exception.
