Kotnajibullah school wins divisional badminton tourney

HARIPUR: Government higher secondaryschool for boys Kotnajibullah emerged as the winner of the divisional badminton championship.

The divisional level sports tournament was played between various teams from government boys schools in the Hazara division, and his school defeated the government higher secondary school for boys Gari Habibullah Mansehra, according to Dr Amir Atiq Sidiki, the school’s principal, who shared the tournament’s results here on Friday.

The team of Kotnajibullah school comprising Ali Raza and Sudais Rehman won the match from Ibrahim Bilal and Subhan of Gari Habibullah school. While playing the final in single’s category, Ali Raza of Kotnajibullah school defeated Ibrahim Bilal of Gari Habibullah school by 2-1, ranking his school as divisional champion of badminton.

Speaking to the players on this occasion the district education officer urged the students to direct their energies towards their physical fitness by engaging in sports activities and avoid indulging in non-productive and hazardous activities.

He said that mental wellbeing was of paramount importance and it could only be achieved through positive physical activities of sports. He said that the education department has already directed its resources and energies towards promoting sports at school levels so that the hidden sports talent of students could be explored and polished for national teams. He also congratulated the winner for excellent performance.

Speaking to the players on this occasion, the district education officer advised them to focus their energies on being physically fit through sports and refrain from indulging in non-productive pursuits.According to him, sports and other constructive physical activities were the sole ways to promote mental wellness, which was of utmost importance.
