Omar Adil denied bail in TV host’s case

LAHORE: A sessions court on Thursday dismissed post-arrest bail petition of Dr Omer Adil in a cybercrime case lodged by TV host Ayesha Jahanzeb.

The complainant accused Dr Adil of uttering sexually explicit remarks against her on a social media platform.

Advocate Zain Ali Qureshi, the complainant’s counsel, told the court that Dr Adil had already been convicted twice before blatantly passing defaming and derogatory misogynist remarks against numerous female anchors, the Punjab chief minister and other women like actress Bushra Ansari.

He said the act of the defendant was fatal to the society.

A counsel for the defendant argued that the case was based on mala fide intention of the FIA and the complainant. He said the case required further inquiry.

Additional District and Sessions Judge Rafaqat Ali Qamar dismissed the bail petition of the defendant.
